I Can’t Not Love You
She’s an artist. He’s in love.
She had always dreamed of wide open steppe landscapes — where wild tulips cover the ground in spring, horses run free across the plains, and caravans of camels wander through golden dunes. It was her childhood fantasy: a place of silence, color, and space to breathe. He listened. He understood. And one day, he took her there.
This photo series tells the story of his proposal — not in a decorated venue, but in the heart of her dream. Just the earth, the wind, the horizon, and the two of them, completely present with each other.
We designed the story as a fine art photo book, and it was submitted to WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International), where it was honored with a Silver Award in the Engagement category — one of the most meaningful moments of my career.
A year later, they invited me again — this time to photograph their wedding.
It was held in the far north, where the sun barely sets. I remember looking at the sky at 10 PM — and it still felt like the middle of the day.
Bright. Endless. Magical.
I had never seen anything like it.
And I don’t think I’ll ever forget them.
